How to Make a CD of "The Scoop on Soil"

  1. Go to the page http://www2.ngdc.wvu.edu/~hferguson/educationNGDC/index.htm

  2. Download the file "Soil_Game_The_Scoop_on_Soil.zip

  3. Unzip the file

  4. Start a CD burning session and place the following on the root directory of the CD-ROM

    • The Data Folder
    • The file "Autorun.inf"
    • The file "Read Me.txt
    • The File "Scoop_on_Soil.exe"


  5. Burn the CD and you are finished.

  6. Choose a label from the web page or make your own.

  7. If you wish to add "The Scoop on Soil" to an educational CD of your own with additional content use the following instructions:

    • Follow steps 1 through 3 from above
    • Place the entire directory "Scoop on Soil Game on the CD
    • Use Adobe Acrobat or some other file to hyperlink to the Scoop_on_Soil.exe file
    • Write the CD
    • Test the CD - My test worked
    • However, if the CD does not run, look into writing a batch file or checking your hyperlink to make sure that it is pointing to the correct .exe file.
    • Example of the lines of text in a batch file named Scoop.bat
      • cd \Scoop on Soil
      • scoop_on_soil.exe
