Irrigation -- The ground cover here is beneficial to the soil, but the low organic matter content and compaction from past management practices is causing low infiltration and puddling of water on the surface of the soil. Over time the infiltration will improve and yields will improve.
If soil biology is allowed to improve by reducing disturbances to the soil, organic matter willincrease and help increase infiltration of water.
